Effective date: 2026-10-25
This policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you use www.tannoy.com (the "site"), the Tannoy website.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your personal data is Empower Tribe Commercial HK Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (company no. 77647198) ("we", "us").
We have not appointed a data protection officer. Please send all privacy questions and requests to governance@empowertribe.com. For everything else, including product support, use www.tannoy.com/support.

- EU representative: Empower Tribe Commercial NL BV;
- UK representative: Empower Tribe Commercial UK Ltd.
You and data protection authorities can contact our representatives about any privacy matter at governance@empowertribe.com. Please say whether your message is for the EU or the UK representative.
Tannoy products are distributed by Empower Tribe Commercial FZE (Dubai, UAE), and the Tannoy trademarks belong to Empower Tribe IP Holdings Ltd. (Abu Dhabi, UAE).
2. What data we collect
Data you give us
- Contact details: for example your name, email address and phone number.
- Account data, if you create an account: login details and preferences.
- Messages: what you send us by email or through forms, for example support or warranty requests.
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address and your consent.
- Product registration, where offered: product model and serial number.
Data collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, and the pages and files you request. Our infrastructure records this for security and to deliver the site.
- Cookie data: see our cookie policy. Analytics and marketing cookies are used only if you consent.
- Location: an approximate location derived from your IP address, used for example to suggest your country or show nearby dealers. If you search for dealers, we use the location or postcode you enter to show results.
3. Why we use your data and our legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR or the UK GDPR apply, we rely on these legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running the site, delivering pages and downloads | Our legitimate interest in providing a working site |
| Keeping the site and its users secure, preventing fraud and abuse | Legitimate interest; legal obligation where applicable |
| Managing your account and product registrations | Performance of a contract with you |
| Answering your questions, support and warranty requests | Legitimate interest in helping you |
| Sending newsletters and marketing emails | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Analytics and marketing cookies | Your consent |
| Keeping records required by law | Legal obligation |
| Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims | Legitimate interest |
Where we rely on legitimate interest, we have weighed that interest against your rights. You can object (see section 7).
You do not have to give us personal data, but without it we may not be able to answer a request or provide a service you ask for.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Who we share data with
We share personal data only as needed for the purposes above:
- Companies in our group, which provide IT, hosting and support services to us, or handle warranty and service requests.
- Service providers that process data for us under contract, including Cloudflare (content delivery and security), Alibaba Cloud (hosting and storage) and Microsoft (email and office systems).
- Dealers and service partners, where needed to handle a warranty claim, repair or request you have made.
- Authorities, courts and advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
- A buyer or successor of all or part of our business, under appropriate confidentiality.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
We are based in Hong Kong. Other companies in our group are in the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and our service providers operate in several countries. Your data may therefore be processed outside your country, including in countries that may not offer the same level of protection.
Where the law requires it, we put appropriate safeguards in place for these transfers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the UK equivalent, or we rely on another lawful transfer mechanism. You can ask for more information at governance@empowertribe.com.
6. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. In particular:
- support and warranty records: for as long as the product may be under warranty or a claim may be raised, and as needed to defend legal claims;
- account data: until you close your account, plus a short period for security and legal reasons;
- newsletter data: until you unsubscribe;
- security logs: for a limited period, unless needed to investigate an incident;
- consent records: as long as needed to show we obtained consent.
7. Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to our use of your data, including objecting at any time to direct marketing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting use before you withdrew it.
To exercise any right, email governance@empowertribe.com. We may need to confirm your identity. We will answer within the time required by law.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Elsewhere, you may complain to your local data protection authority where one exists. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
8. Children
The site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact governance@empowertribe.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is completely secure. If you suspect a security problem, tell us at governance@empowertribe.com.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version and its effective date are always on the site. If changes are significant, we will tell you on the site or, if you have an account, by email.
